During your first meeting and at an additional pre-planning appointment, you’ll be able to touch, feel, and even try on your breast implants! Modern breast implants are available in a vast array of sizes and shapes to suit nearly every taste and every body.

Toronto breast augmentation with saline or silicone
Silicone
The old model of silicone implants that you may have heard of in decades past are long gone. Implant manufacturers reintroduced new cohesive silicone gel breast implants to the Canadian market in 2006 that have been entirely re-engineered for safety and resilience. The silicone gel inside implants is now a gummy material that doesn’t flow like a liquid. The outer shells are multi-layered and designed to withstand wear and tear.
In the rare event of shell breach, silicone gel is expected to stay in position. While this is a benefit to safety, it may make implant changes challenging to detect. Breast imaging is required to confirm a suspected rupture.
Silicone gel implants are available in numerous sizes with different projection/fullness and multiple widths. They do an excellent job of mimicking the realistic, natural look and feel of breast tissue and resist visible rippling due to their dense gel filling.
Saline implants
Saline implants have a shell made of silicone but are filled to their desired size with sterile saltwater once they are in position within the breast. The incisions used to insert saline implants tend to be smaller than those for silicone gel.
Saline implants are priced slightly lower than silicone and are still requested by some clients today. In the rare event of a shell rupture, saline is harmlessly absorbed by the body, and then the implant must be replaced.

Recovery & Results
In most cases, breast augmentation takes between 1 and 2 hours only and results in 2 tiny incisions. The incisions will be covered with protective tape and dressings, and you’ll be free to head home within a few hours of your procedure.
Breast implant surgery typically requires 1 to 2 weeks off, depending on how strenuous your daily activities are. Your surgeon will advise you about what to avoid when healing, including workouts, swimming, and heavy lifting.
