Breast Lift

Also known as mastopexy, this surgical lifting procedure is designed to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing position and shape for your existing breasts.

Mastopexy

Breast lift in Toronto is among the most requested cosmetic surgeries. Maybe you’ve tried breast tape and other Hollywood secrets to boost your chest into a more youthful position. However, none of the gimmicks or bra power make lasting, natural-looking changes to your tissue. When sagging or low-nipple position set in after weight loss, breastfeeding, or weight gain, many women embark on a mission to reposition their breasts.

Also known as mastopexy, this surgical lifting procedure is designed to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing position and shape for your existing breasts. Rather than intentionally alter the volume of glandular tissue, Toronto breast lift surgeons strive to recreate tighter, revitalized breasts using skin and nipple enhancement.

With a mastopexy, you can:

  • Elevate the breast mound
  • Create a rounder breast shape
  • Raise the nipple-areolar complex
  • Decrease the areola size
  • Breast lifting can enhance your figure and bolster your confidence both in and out of your clothing.

How can Toronto breast lift patients improve cleavage?

Lifting the breasts can do more than just reposition nipples and remove excess skin. Tightening the skin envelope lifts the glandular and fat tissue within your breast. This volume is pushed upward, so many women see a rounder, fuller upper breast, just like with a push-up or padded bra.

Decreasing the circumference of areolas can have the desirable side effect of making the breast appear larger. Some women say they got a volume boost and a more curvy-looking figure from a breast lift alone.

For clients who desire a more noticeable increase in breast size, augmentation-mastopexy is a popular combination procedure involving breast implants and a lift.

What does it involve?

Breast lift surgery can improve the shape and position of breasts. This procedure is performed under general anaesthesia in most cases and will take 2 to 4 hours in the operating room. Though the goal is consistent, there are various popular methods used. With incision placement, plastic surgeons can achieve minor reshaping or dramatic skin removal and repositioning. The 3 most common approaches have amusing nicknames:

  • Donut (circumareolar)
  • Lollipop (vertical)
  • Anchor (standard)

The circumferential mastopexy places permanent sutures around the areola after removing a ring of skin. The edges are drawn together like purse strings and secured. Incisions at the edge of pigmented tissue tend to blend in, even when nude. Areola size can be decreased while breast skin is reduced. This method achieves subtle improvements and rounds out the breast shape.

The vertical scar or short scar technique is a common choice, because the vertical incision under the areola allows for the removal of a wedge of skin. More pronounced improvement to breast shape and lifting can be achieved with this approach. Though there is a permanent scar to contend with, extra care is taken to ensure that it is thin and heals discreetly.

Anchor mastopexy describes a traditional, full technique. It’s useful for women with severe sagging, nipple position well below the breast crease, and breast reduction surgeries. It utilizes an incision around the areola, vertically underneath it, and a horizontal incision placed within the natural breast fold. Though there is technically more scarring with a standard breast lift, Toronto patients find that the crease incisions virtually disappear under the natural folding of skin.

Procedure & Recovery

WhAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?

On the day of your breast lift, your surgeon will draw lines on the breasts where they plan to place incisions. Much like clothing patterns, your breast skin will be precisely altered to create the rounded, soft, and youthful curves that you want. You’ll be able to see the intended new positioning of the areolas, and you can ask any questions you have before surgery begins.

During the operation, you’ll be completely asleep while adjustments are made. When you’re gently awakened in our comfortable recovery room, you’ll have our highly trained surgical nurses by your side, and your surgeon will speak with you once you’re awake as well. Instructions are reviewed, and patients leave the clinic with a friend or family member as soon as they feel up to it.

What Is Breast Lift Recovery Like?

Once you’re resting at home after your breast lift, you’ll be advised to walk a little every few hours, but do take plenty of naps as well. It’s normal to feel tired or somewhat dizzy as you recover from anaesthetic. You’ll have prescription medication to take for roughly 1 week. You can shower on the second or third day after a breast lift. Expect to feel a little swollen and sore in the chest for at least a few days. Take care to avoid lifting, exercising, or rigorously using your arms during that time. Your plastic surgeon will provide you with a full list of activities to avoid while you heal. They’ll also let you know how to care for the healing incisions and ensure that they look fabulous.

We will see you roughly 1 week after your breastlift surgery for a check-up and the removal of sutures, if necessary. You’ll have a few follow-up appointments, and you can always request additional meetings or phone calls if you have concerns along the way. Most women return to work between 7 and 10 days after their Toronto breast lift procedure and resume fitness regimens or sports 4 to 6 weeks afterwards.

While the shape and feel of your breasts may be firm initially, inflammation will gradually leave the tissue over 2 or 3 months, and they’ll soften into a natural contour. Your scars will fade over the first year, and we’ll provide advice regarding treatments to keep the scars as faint as possible.

Candidates & Location

Who is a candidate for breast lift surgery?

The ideal mastopexy patient is in good general health. Your plastic surgeon will review your medical history with you and consider illnesses, current prescriptions, and your lifestyle.

You may be asked to quit smoking or make other changes before planning your breast lift procedure.

If you plan to gain or lose weight, you’ll be advised to do so before planning your Toronto breast lift. That’s because breast size and shape, along with available skin, change when weight fluctuates.

If you are breastfeeding, your surgeon will advise that you wait 4 to 8 weeks after finishing so that the breast tissue, hormones, and size are stable.

Ideal breast lift Toronto patients have realistic expectations about mastopexy, including the possible outcomes, the limitations of anatomy, and the necessary recovery process.
