Facelift
Sovereign Cosmetic Surgery invites you to explore the possibilities of advanced facial artistry.
Your Youthful Appearance
A facelift can help Toronto men and women reveal a youthful appearance that lasts. It’s a facial cosmetic surgery designed to tighten and lift multiple layers of tissue, turning back some of the signs of ageing.
Whether focusing on just the jowls and neck or undergoing a full facelift, this transformative procedure remains incredibly popular for combatting wrinkles, loose skin, and sagging.
Gone are the days of pulled-tight results and obvious facial surgery. At Sovereign Cosmetic Surgery, our facial plastic surgeons offer customized, natural-looking facelifts.
Your skin loses collagen, elasticity, and fat over time. A personalized facelift can elevate and strengthen layers, leading to lasting firmness and tone without apparent tension or obvious scars.
Today’s facial surgery doesn’t look like surgery at all. Read on to discover how we do it at Sovereign.
How Does A Toronto Facelift Work?
There are a variety of facelift techniques. Typically completed under general anaesthesia, your procedure may last 2 to 5 hours.
An open, full facelift approach is also called SMAS (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system) facelift. Though more extensive incisions are used, you’ll achieve the powerful lifting of muscle, subcutaneous fat, and skin. The SMAS method is often preferred because dramatic results are possible with minimal surface tension or “pulling.” It’s a long-lasting, beautiful investment.
Endoscopic facelifts also have a place. However, even though incisions are significantly smaller, the amount of lifting achieved and the longevity of the results can disappoint, depending on the expectations.
A mini facelift or lower facelift will sometimes focus on just the neck and jawline. This option may be ideal for slightly younger patients who begin to age in this area first. It’s a less invasive option with quicker recovery, but it helps hold off the signs of aging in the lower face for several years.
Facelifts are similar for men and women, though incision placement varies depending on facial hair and hairlines.
Chin and cheek implants may be inserted during surgery if facial harmony and long term “filling” of hollows are desired. Temporary dermal fillers are also combined with facial lifting.
Your personal options are truly limitless! We’ll listen to you, examine you and recommend bespoke solutions.
Who’s a Good Candidate for a Facelift in Toronto?
Our facial cosmetic surgery philosophy is always “do the right thing at the right time.” It means that getting to know our patients’ long-term goals and needs, impacts our care.
We offer a wide variety of less invasive techniques like laser skin resurfacing, dermal fillers, and healthy lifestyle choices. The new age of facial cosmetic surgery accounts for a positive mindset, natural outcomes, and lasting, radiant results.
We recommend that you select a Royal College-certified plastic surgeon with in-depth facial cosmetic surgery experience. This challenging area showcases precise changes and requires a truly artistic touch.

Common ages for people to consider facelifts range from 40 to 65. However, patients on either side of this margin could benefit too.
If you’re healthy and have no untreated medical conditions, you may be a great facelift candidate.
Facelift results often last 15 years or more and don’t reverse. That means you’ll continue to age after surgery, but you’ll appear more youthful than you would have without intervention – even decades later.
The best facelift candidates also understand that maintenance is essential. Skincare regimens, including cosmeceutical products and sunblock, protect your skin. The use of neuromodulators and dermal fillers help too.
Our Experience
Out-of-hospital (OHP) surgical facilities are assessed and reviewed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). This ensures that the highest level of patient care and safety is met.
CPSO inspectors say that our clinic is one of the best they’ve seen in the province. That’s because we not only meet but far exceed safety protocols without compromising a luxurious ambience and elegant patient experience.
Our bright, sunlit operating and recovery rooms offer discretion and comfort along with the convenience of a central downtown Toronto location. For patients visiting Toronto from out of town, we recommend many nearby world-class hotels and amenities.
Medical financing is another convenient option available to our clients through affiliate companies. We’ll be happy to put you in touch with them.
Note* We’re making virtual consultations easier than ever. When you choose a digital consult, you can count on ample discussion time with your surgeon, then reviewing details and questions again the day of your procedure.
Facelift Recovery
You’ll spend time with our caring nurses in our stylish recovery room until you’re ready to head home or to your hotel. You’ll need to be escorted by a friend or family member or private nursing staff.
Most people like to recover privately with comfortable areas to rest, at least for the first few days. That means arranging for childcare and help with pets or household tasks.
Facelift recovery isn’t usually described as painful. Still, you can expect swelling and bruising in this sensitive area for at least 2 weeks. You’ll be advised to move around your home slowly, get plenty of rest, and avoid bending over or doing strenuous tasks.
You’ll have gauze bandages to change at home. We’ll see you back at our clinic the day after surgery for assessment and additional instructions. Sutures are removed between 5 to 7 days, and the well-hidden incisions are typically closed within 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks
Patients return to light gym workouts starting at 3 weeks post-surgery in most cases. Your facelift surgeon will let you know when specific activities can resume. Taking 2 weeks off work after a facelift is common, but the best plan for you will depend on your job requirements.
You can expect temporary numbness in some areas or tingling as you heal. The incisions are pink and slightly raised at first but fade over several months with proper care.
Remember that skin is sensitive to UV rays while inflamed, so it’s essential to wear a hat and sunscreen whenever you’re out enjoying sunny weather. Your long-term scar fading and bright, youthful skin depend on it.
We’ll see you for several follow-up appointments to check on your progress, answer questions, and help you maintain your best face going forward.
Choose Sovereign Rhinoplasty Surgeons
The best facelift surgeon for Toronto men and women will have extensive, head and neck / otolaryngology experience. They should perform various methods of face-lifts regularly and should be able to communicate a clear plan for you that meets your needs.
Ultimately, honesty is best, and your facial surgeon should be prepared to tell you if your chosen procedure won’t likely meet your expectations. Sometimes a better approach or non-surgical treatments will lead to greater satisfaction.
We prioritize long-term happiness for our clients. So everyone who walks through Sovereign’s doors is not only treated like royalty, but also receives trustworthy feedback to help them love their look.
Please call or write to our team for your consultation and consider what a facelift could do for you. We look forward to seeing you!
